  • Updated the "What to do if your Unix password has expired" section of the Change Password page.

  • Corrected a typo (250 keV should have been 250 MeV in reference to the transient class) in the Introducto to the Standard Analysis of LAT Data.
  • Added WinCVS page and linked it in from the TortoiseCVS page.
  • Updated the TortoiseCVS (for Windows machines) page to include the things that Tortoise does not enable you to do. Note that TortoiseCVS is linked in from the Basic Prerequisites page.

  • Added the Fermi Likelihood Model Editor (modeleditor) file to the SciTools References section of the LAT Science Tools and linked it in from the 3rd-level Likelihood Tools navbar.
  • Added (phibins = 0) definition to gtltcube General Parameters.
  • Updated an example showing how to use the -R command to specify that a batch job be done on a machine running a specific operating system (i.e., the example now specifies a rhel5 machine instead of a rhel4 machine); see Using the SLAC Batch Farm.
  • Added Jim Chiang's gtsrcprob and linked it in from SciTools References --> Likelihood Tools navbar.

  • Removed message from the Wired Event Display: View LPA Data page warning that Wired could only be successfully launched from a link in the Data Catalog; this problem has been fixed, and Wired can now also be successfully launched from the button located on the Wired tab page in the Data Portal. Everything is now working as advertised when browsing LPA data.

  • Added the following warning to the Cyber Security Mandatory Training notice:

WARNING! LAST CALL. Starting January 4th, 2010, non-SLAC-employee computer accounts will be disabled if the owner has not completed the following mandatory training. (For SLAC employees, this deadline occurred in July 2009.)

Also added the Cyber Security Mandatory Training notice to each of the following "splash" pages: LAT User Workbook, LAT Science Tools, and LAT Science Analysis.

  • All references to u31 and u33 were removed from the workbook (with the exception of this change log).
  • Announcement that the new 9 TB user disk updated to reflect that u31 and u33 were made read-only on 10/13/2009. (See More Space on SLAC Public.)

  • Added a Cyber Security Basics - Mandatory Training page to assist all those who have a SLAC computing account and who, if this training is not met, will have their SLAC account(s) disabled and will no longer be able to login or to access data. The page is linked in from the Workbook's splash page, and from the 'Mandatory Training' button on the 2nd-level 'Getting Connected' navbar.
  • Added link to FRED: a Fox and Ruby Event Display (Riccardo's website) at the bottom of the FRED Overview and Installation page and from the Yellow navbar --> SW docs & Help --> Legacy Docs --> FRED (Riccardo's Website).
  • Replaced message regarding possible login problems (crashes) on Windows machines when trying to use NetIdMgr to automatically get the Kerberos ticket. (See Secure Shell (SSH) for Windows.)
  • Fixed glossary link on the WB's "Instrument Analysis" banner.
  • Updated the master_pulsardb_v2.fits file to v3 (master_pulsardb_v3.fitsfile) in Appendix A of the Pulsar Analysis Tutorial.

  • Added spacecraft data file (my_pulsar_spacecraft_data_v3r1.fits) to the Pulsar Analysis Tutorial. Also deleted unnecessary sample file (master_pulsardb_v2.fits) in Appendix A of the Pulsar Analysis Tutorial.
  • Updated the gtbary Help File and Appendix C of the Pulsar Analysis Tutorial to point to the correct version of the spacecraft data file (my_pulsar_spacecraft_data_v3r1.fits).
  • Added a new "Interactive LAT Source Catalog" page describing the ASDC's new web page that enables users to browse the LAT source tables. This page is linked in from a New! statement located at the top right of Science Analysis "splash" page.
  • Added statement to Setting up a SLAC Account page instructing applicants to print out the SLAC Computer Account form at 100% size and then fill it out.
  • Expanded the introduction to the Likelihood Tutorial to emphasize that the descriptions are illustrative, i.e., no set of data files is provided.
  • Reinstated Gleam Outputs page in order to provide ready access to the documentation describing the Standard AnalysisNtuple Variables and CTB Variables, as well as to the CAL and the SVAC Tuple variables.
  • Science Analysis splash page:
    • Moved link to L&EO Daily Data Analysis Meeting to "Archives" section of the page.
    • Moved link to Weekly Analysis Meeting to "Links" section; eliminated Launch and Early Orbit section.

  • All Pulsar Tutorials, References, Help files, and Example files have been updated.
  • WORKBOOK RESTRUCTURED. Extensive changes to top, level-1 navigation bars:
    • new rednavbar (Workbook Home page) - Now oriented for end-users, with the exception of the new 'Instrument Analysis' button, which links to those items on the original rednavbar that apply to developers.

      Note that the yellow 'Advanced' navbar is now available from the 'Instrument Analysis' navbar.

    • Extensive changes to green, top-level "Data Access" navbar and to the level-2 navbars linked from the "Monitoring Tools" and "Help Files" buttons.

      Also updated and added additional help files for: Data Catalog and Line Mode Client; Download Manager GUI and Line Mode; Merit Skimmer; Fits Skimmer; Astro Server, WIRED Event Display (LPA Data); and common History.

    • New 'Instrument Analysis' navbar.

    Note: The Instrument Analysis section of the workbook is intended for: SAS software developers; subject matter experts (SMEs); and people interested in analyzing the LAT's performance - as opposed to people interested primarily in performing Science Analysis. Much of the content of this section is therefore organized around development tools. Links are also provided to some of the key legacy documents. The top-level navigation bar is, in fact, closely resembles the original workbook structure.

  • Update to Likelihood Tutorial to correct a typo in one of the formulae.
  • Updates to Sources Available to gtobssim and Gleam (sciTools_observationSimTutorial: obsSim_Sources.htm).
  • Updates to Communication Tools (getting_connected: communicationTools.htm).
