Sorting your results
In the sort pull-down menu you have the following choices for sorting your
search results. Note that only 200 records at a time can be sorted, so be
sure to narrow your search to under this limit.
- No Sort
- This option will cause your result set to not be sorted. The order
that the data is displayed is the order that the data was added to
the databases. Which in most cases will be a reverse chronological
listing. Choosing this option will help speed
up the time with which you get results back.
- Date Order - Descending
- Result set is sorted by a series of date fields. The date is either
the document date or it is the date the document was added to our system.
This option will sort them with the newest document first.
- Date Order - Ascending
- Result set is sorted by a series of date fields. The date is either
the document date or it is the date the document was added to our system.
This option will sort them with the oldest document first.
- First Author
- The result set will be sorted alphabetically by the name of the
first author on a paper.
- Title
- The result set will be sorted alphabetically by the title of the
document.
- First Author/Title
- The result set is first sorted alphabetically by the last name of the
first author, and then sub-sorted alphabetically by document title.
