Pspice and Capture 10.5, for Windows |
Install main application
The basic idea for running the application is to install it on your local
drive using the Xweb interface. It requires about 750 MB of disk space,
Service Pack 1 is also available for installing, after the main application
has been installed. Instructions for installing SP1 follow this section.
Install SP1
- Go back to the Xweb entry for OrCAD 10.5 and click again on the
'Multiple Step Install' button to the right, unless you are already in that
environment. This time, click on Step 2, 'Install SP1', near the bottom
of the next page.
- Agree to the usual license terms on the following page.
- On the next page you have once again select "Install SP1", because
of some quirkiness in the Xweb, it seems".
- On the next "File Download" page, you can choose either "Run" or "Save".
The first choice might be easiest. It will download the installation files
and then automatically proceed to install the application. The "Save" option
only downloads the installation files. You would then have to go to the
location where you saved the downloaded files and doubleclick on the *.exe
file, which would initiate the install.
- After the download phase has completed, a "Security Warning" prompts you
whether you want continue and "Run" the (installation program). Click on "Run".
- The next phase involves unzipping the downloaded files,
often with no window present to indicate what is happening.
- The OrCAD installation window then appears for 10.5 SP1, in which you
click on 'Next'.
- On the next "License Agreement" window, click in the accept box, then Next.
- Several information windows follow, during the SP1 updating process,
followed by the "Update Complete" window, in which you can click on "Finish".
- This completes the SP1 update installation.
- No opportunity is given to rename or update the Programs Folder entry
for this app to something like OrCAD 10.5 SP1 - it remains unchanged. I
don't know how to make it apparent that you now have version 10.5 SP1
rather than 10.5, except by going in by hand to the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Progams folder and renaming the entry manually.
