Archives Month 2009 Contest
Help us celebrate Archives Month 2009!
The SLAC Archives and History Office (AHO) is looking to share the inside story on working at this lab and to celebrate the many and varied contributions of all sorts of specialists to its daily science and science support activities.
Do you have a significant item in your work area right now? Something you use or have used – or see or have seen – on a regular basis that has special meaning to you in your work? Is it old? New? Shiny? Worn? Big? Small? Used every day or seldom? Important to your functioning because (you fill in the blank)?
Submissions due by October 20, 2009
Take a photograph of the item and write a few words about it (up to 150) explaining its significance. For example, you could begin by writing:
“I couldn’t work without this __(item name)____, because…”   or   “When I look at ____(item_) it says “SLAC” to me, because….”
Make your submission by email to slacarc@slac.stanford.edu. Submissions will be accepted from now until Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Attach your jpg or gif format photograph to the email message. Photos must be no larger than 1MB to be eligible for this contest. All submissions must be related to present or past work at the SLAC site to be eligible. You need not be a SLAC employee to enter. Contest submissions become property of the SLAC Archives and History Office, and selected submissions may be exhibited.
Submissions will be judged by a diverse panel of SLAC staff recruited by the AHO, and contest results will be announced on Monday, October 28, 2009, in SLAC Today. Each submitter will be eligible for a participation prize.
If you have any questions about these requirements, please send an email inquiry to slacarc@slac.stanford.edu.
SHARE A STORY WITH US THIS MONTH!!
Please note: Entries not meeting the criteria stated above will be automatically disqualified from the contest.
