- Travelers:
- Roger. L. Cottrell Assistant Director, SLAC Computer Services
- Richard Dubois Physicist, SLD Experiment
- Tony Johnson Physicist, SLD Experiment
- Randy Melen Systems Specialist, SLAC Computer Services
- Dates of Trip:

- Purpose:
- To Visit CERN, DESY and RAL and learn about their activities
and plans in computing and networking
- Estimated cost of travel:
- $5000, funded by DoE
These visits were arranged to continue discussions with colleagues at CERN,
DESY and RAL on current activities and future plans for support of computing
and networking. In particular we focussed on issues raised by the SLAC
Computer Advisory Committee concerning the distributed environment and client
server computing and how to migrate from today's supported systems to those
we will need towards the end of this century. While in England, Cottrell
took the opportunity to discuss the European Networking scene with ex SLACers
at DANTE in England.
