Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 9/4/01 Minutes Attendees: W. Olson, P. Bosted, T. Weber, L. Keller, M. Palrang, K. Baird, M. Racine, S. Kuhn, R. Rogers, J. Weisend Items Discussed: 1. M. Palrang showed a layout of the box containing the alumina, tungsten and beam tube that will be placed in D3 for the E160 experiment. After much discussion it was decided that the baseline plan.for installing this box would be: a) Remove the top 2 pieces of iron from D3 but not split the coils. b) Angle the box into place from the top. c) Install shims on the width to hold the box into place d) Install the alumina and tungsten and assemble the magnet iron If it is not possible to take off the top two pieces of the iron without splitting the coils, then the box (containing the alumina and tungsten) will be slid in from the end of D3. The box containing the target assembly will most likely be welded to the box in D3. The target mover system allows alignment of the targets with respect to the beam line independent of the target box position. 2. Preparation for the LASS magnets tests is proceeding. The acid washing and flushing has been completed. The cabling should be done this week and the earthquake bracing should be finished shortly afterwards. Once this work is done the magnet will be ready for testing. Decisions Reached: 1. The LiD2 can only be exposed to air for a couple of hours before oxidation starts to be a problem. Therefore the target box will be built in such a way that the LiD2 can be added just prior to the final pump down of the beam line. Additionally, a two inch beam valve will be installed downstream of the D3 collimator system to break up the beam vacuum. 2. P. Bosted has determined that magnet 18D36 is the appropriate magnet for the Compton polarimeter. 3. It is desirable that a two week beam test be run on the Compton Polarimeter in Fall 02. New Action Items Ongoing Action Items 1. P. Bosted will create a test plan for the LASS magnet checkout 2. This summer's LASS magnet tests. 3. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. G. Oxoby will start tabulating these numbers based on the data acquisition memo and additional information from the collaboration. J. G.
