Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 11/13/01 Minutes Attendees: P. Bosted, W. Olson, R. Arnold, M. Palrang, D. Waltz, L. Keller, J. Weisend Items Discussed: 1. P. Bosted reported on his studies of the E160 layout. More studies on tradeoffs of materials and designs are required. There will probably be tungsten absorbers between D3 and the LASS dipole. It would be useful to have the E160 target be able to move in the z direction roughly half the length of the D3 chamber. T. Weber is working on this design. 2. Regarding the goniometer, modifications to the vacuum system have basically been completed. R. Rogers is working on the pin cushion design for 3CM2 used in E158. Some of these design features may be useful for the C37 work. New Action Items 1. P. Bosted will consider what the ideal magnet to use in place of 29D36 might look like. Such a magnet might not be too hard to construct. Ongoing Action Items . 1. Steve St Lorent will work on the steel for the LASS configuration. 2. J. Weisend will work with D. Crabb and R. Principe to develop a detailed drawing showing the dilution refrigerator and the proposed superconducting magnet 3. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. G. Oxoby will start tabulating these numbers based on the data acquisition memo and additional information from the collaboration. 4. P. Bosted will continue the physics simulations of the proposed change to the RPC design. 5. L. Keller will look at the muon backgrounds in the detector with the new RPC experiment design. 6. The interaction of the LASS magnet and all its iron with the E161/ E159 7 T target magnet needs to be carefully modeled using a 3-D field simulation. 7. Serious engineering of the shielding and earthquake supports associated with the LASS magnet must be started. J. Weisend 2
