Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 11/6/01 Minutes Attendees: P. Bosted, W. Olson, R. Arnold, G. Oxoby, M. Palrang Items Discussed: 1. Ray Arnold is working on the wire array design for the dump line when he can sneak some time away from his E158 duties 2. Mike Palrang presented an E160 layout showing the relationship of the LASS and D3 magnets with a 12" separation. Copper is the most likely material to fill the wedged shaped gap between the iron wedge and the magnet bore. Peter would like to have the detectors mounted such that their position can be varied from close behind the LASS mirror plate to a couple of meters down beam. Peter is still modeling, so nothing is firmed up. 3. The current consensus for next years down time is July through September. This schedule looks doable for completion of the photon beam line. New Action Items 1. Steve St. Lorant will work on the steel for the LASS configuration. Ongoing Action Items . 1. J. Weisend will work with D. Crabb and R. Principe to develop a detailed drawing showing the dilution refrigerator and the proposed superconducting magnet 2. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. G. Oxoby will start tabulating these numbers based on the data acquisition memo and additional information from the collaboration. 3. P. Bosted will continue the physics simulations of the proposed change to the RPC design. 4. L. Keller will look at the muon backgrounds in the detector with the new RPC experiment design. 5. The interaction of the LASS magnet and all its iron with the E161/ E159 7 T target magnet needs to be carefully modeled using a 3-D field simulation. 6. Serious engineering of the shielding and earthquake supports associated with the LASS magnet must be started. W. Olson 1
