Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 2/19/02 Minutes Attendees: W. Olson, T. Weber, J. Weisend, M. Palrang, S. St Lorant, D. Waltz, L. Keller, Items Discussed: 1. The Statement of Work for the LBNL Magnetic field analysis for E160 has been prepared and a visit to LBNL by S. St Lorent, L. Keller and W. Olson is scheduled for February 20th. 2. M. Palrang and T. Weber have completed the first pass of a detailed target system design for E160. The design has been submitted to P. Bosted for comments. 3. The E158 layout drawing is almost done. Once checked, this will be the template for the E160 layout drawing. E. Jensen is creating a switchyard general arrangement drawing for the collaboration. 4. Scheduling was discussed. GLAST would like to run in ESA between January and March of 04 with E160 starting to run in April of 04. It seems unlikely that the photon beam line can be installed and commissioned by this time unless more resources are devoted to it. Decisions Reached 1. The copper on the wedges should be 20 mm thick Ongoing Action Items 1. J. Weisend will work with D. Crabb and R. Principe to develop a detailed drawing showing the dilution refrigerator and the proposed superconducting magnet 2. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. G. Oxoby will start tabulating these numbers based on the data acquisition memo and additional information from the collaboration. 3. P. Bosted will continue the physics simulations of the proposed change to the RPC design. 4. . The interaction of the LASS magnet and all its iron with the E161/ E159 7-T target magnet needs to be carefully modeled using a 3-D field simulation. 5. Serious engineering of the shielding and earthquake supports associated with the LASS magnet must be started. 6. T. Weber will investigate other E160 target materials to replace the Pb and Au for example Tantalum or Platinum J. Weisend 2
