Present: Peter Bosted, Keith Griffioen, Bill Olson, Steve Rock, John Weisend E161 Target: John got field maps for proposed magnet. Peter will use these to see if tilting magnet by about 10 deg. can give enough kick to electrons, positrons, and 0 deg. pions to be useful in reducing backgrounds, and making a better E161 spectrometer. E160 Physics. Keith has made some plots of probablities of coherent, elastic, and inelastic j/psi verus theta and pt2 for various momenta (see www.slac.stanford.edu/~griff/e160/prob.html). From this it is clear that multi-parameter simultaneous fits, prhaps combined with taking data with/without the coherent photon peaks, will be needed to extract final physics. For pt>1, most jpsi are inelastic, which means we can measure this A-dep also, and provides a useful cut for E161 to measure inelastic jpsi. E160 Spectrometer: Peter met on Nov. 29 with Perry, John, Bill, and Steve StLorant to discuss finallizing E160 spectrometer soon. New strategy is to optimize without trying to make LASS identiacal for both experiments (or hodoscopes). Peter made a list of five options to study (LASS with/without iron, and if iron, how thick). All options use D3 still.
