Self-consistent treatment of 3-dimensional ellipsoid with negligible emittance in time-dependent linear external field is done. Envelope equations describing evolution of ellipsoid boundary are obtained. For complete model it is required that initial particle momentum has to be a linear function of coordinates. Numerical example and verification of the problem by 3-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations are given.
