Double Kicker System in ATF

For future linear collider, it is extremely important to extract low emittance multi-bunch beam generated in damping ring stably, because the position jitter would be magnified by transverse wakefields in the main linac. In KEK/ATF, we developed double kicker system which consists of one pulsed power supply and two identical kicker magnets placed at same beta-function points which are optically pi phase advance apart. The system could compensate the pulse-to-pulse kick angle variation for each bunch in a multi-bunch beam. We studied the performance of the system with single-bunch beam comparing the case of extraction without the second kicker magnet. The analysis of beam orbit measurement in the extraction line shows a reduction of the position jitter. For more precise evaluation, we install the cavity-BPM which have high position resolution and make the precise adjustment of beam optics between two kickers.
