The DIRC High Voltage System

The DIRC photomultipliers (PMTs) used to collect the Cerenkov photons radiated by charged particles in BaBar are powered by a high-voltage (HV) system to ensure that they are optimally working. The aim of this chapter is to describe the Epics panels related to it, in order to ease the pilot diagnostic in case of a problem. In addition, the main features of the DIRC HV distribution systems are recalled; hyperlinks pointed to detailed descriptions of particular points are also provided.

Any failure of a part of the DIRC HV system makes the corresponding set of PMTs blind, which can seriously affect the quality of the physics data. Therefore, it is important that both the pilot and the DQM survey it accurately.
