First is a proposal to replace the Damping Ring RF system interlocks with a PLC based interlock system. This could be accomplished with or without upgrading the LLRF system to EPICS. The motivation for this change is explained and evidence is provided to support this motivation.

Photographs are presented showing the greatly reduced wiring involved in the software interlock system compared to hardware.

The SCP panel listing the interlocks to be replaced is next. There are 23 power supply and klystron related interlocks as well as 24 cavity and waveguide interlocks.

The complexity of the current hardware interlock system drawing is then compared with the much simpler software system. Also an example of Ladder Logic is shown.
