Updates of Semileptonic Results for the Summer 2003

The changes of this update with respect to the status of winter 2003 are described here.

All analyses are rescaled to a common set of input parameters defined in common.param.

A spreadsheet with the breakdowns of the errors can be found as xls and gnumeric. nada

In hep-ex/0212036, the LEP HF steering group quotes BF(B -> Xlnu) = 10.65 +/- 0.23 at LEP. This result is model-dependent in the sense that its error includes a contribution of 0.14 for the modeling of b->Xl.

There are at least two possibilities to derive Vcb from the inclusive semileptonic BF

The first approach needs an average lambdaBar and lambda1 which does not exist currently. This is highly nontrivial to do correctly. The second approach uses the different moments directly -- taking into account all the correlations -- and fits the semileptonic width simultaneously to the moments. It is foreseen to use the second approach in the future.

This table and the plots in the last row document the two-dimensional simultaneous fit to |Vcb|*F(1) and rho2. Note: The fit is two-dimensional and systematics limited, no confidence level is given at the moment.
