Abstract:
-
The development of silicon microstrip detectors for high luminosity
application at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is described. The
technical choices are most severely restricted by the anticipated
radiation damage. The arguments are presetned which led to the
selection of the base-line detectors for the silicon tracker of the
LHC detector ATLAS: sandwiches of single-sided detectors of n-strips in
n-type bulk.
