Abstract:
- Monte Carlo code AVALAN was designed to simulate an electron
avalanche development under any operating conditions of a proportional
counter such as different
gas pressures and electric fields.
It alows to study any temporal and space aspects of the
avalanche development.
Initial
simulations were
performed for low pressure cylindrical counter filled with methane gas.
Some results from these simulations are discussed.
