The original idea for this web site evolved out of a reference question received by the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) Library about Nobel laureates in physics in the spring of 1995, before the Nobel Foundation's site was even created.  Robin Chandler, SLAC Archivist and Reference Librarian at the time, put together the first edition.  Pat Kreitz developed and maintained SLAC's Nobel site for many years with occasional assistance from library staff, including Richard Dominiak, Molly Moss and Heath O'Connell.

The current quality is entirely due to the hard work and cooperative effort of the new SLAC Nobel Team, led by Abraham Wheeler the current SLAC Reference Librarian. The additional team members include: Travis Brooks, the SPIRES Database Manager, Pat Kreitz, Director of Technical Information Services, and Ann Redfield, SLAC Library Manager.
