INFORMATION TO FOREIGN VISITORS

If your country does not participate in the VWP, you must obtain a B-1 (business) or B-2 (tourist) visa before entering the US. Information on the B-1 and B-2 visas can be found at the U.S. State Department: (http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_2664.html) . Please note that obtaining a B-1 or B-2 visa can be a lengthy process, so begin the process of obtaining a visa soon.

TRANSPORTATION TO THE SLAC NATIONAL LABORATORY CENTER & STANFORD AREA

Shuttles to and from the airport. The SuperShuttle is a van service at San Francisco Airport, San Jose and Oakland. At SFO, the shuttle collects
people along the upper departure level of any terminal, on the center island outside of the airline ticket counters. The one-way charge is about $30. (415) 558-8500.

From San Francisco Airport, take the SFO-BART Extension to the Millbrae Intermodal
Station, then Caltrain to Menlo Park or Palo Alto. Call (800) 660-4287 for schedules. There is a train about once an hour (with more frequent trains in early morning and late afternoon).

There is no direct way to get to or from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to SLAC. Go from Berkeley to Daily City station and in Daily City take the BART to Millbrae. In Millbrae you will need to take Caltrain to University Ave station and there take the Marguerite shuttle to the Oval and transfer to the SLAC shuttle.
Another option is Berkeley to the Powell Street Station in San Francisco. Walk up to Fourth Street and over to the Caltrain Depot at Fourth Street and King (about 7 blocks). Take Caltrain to University Ave station and there take the Marguerite shuttle to the Oval and transfer to the SLAC shuttle.

From San Francisco Airport or Millabrae BART station, take bus KX south to Palo Alto bus depot at the University Caltrain station. It leaves every 30 minutes
and takes about 55 minutes. Call (800) 660-4287 for schedules.

The free Marguerite shuttle has a line that runs to SLAC. You can pick up a Line A shuttle in Palo Alto and take it to the Hoover Tower stop where you transfer to the SLAC shuttle. The SLAC shuttle runs every 40 minutes. Call (650) 723-9362 for schedules.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SLAC NATIONAL LABORATORY CENTER
Street Address

2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025
Take Interstate-280 to the Sand Hill Road exit. Take Sand Hill Road East (toward Palo Alto/Menlo Park)
about 1/3 mile to the SLAC entrance. The street address is 2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park (on the
right-hand side at a stoplight).

Driving on U.S. 101 take the Embarcadero Road exit. As you cross El Camino Real, you will enter the
Stanford campus. Turn right on Arboretum Road and continue to Sand Hill Road. Turn left on Sand Hill
Road to SLAC (about 1 mile up on the left-hand side).

The Theory Group is on the 2nd floor of Building 48, Research Office Building (ROB), located in the large courtyard facing
Sand Hill Road. Please check in at office 216 upon arrival.

Parking at SLAC
You can park in any parking lot at SLAC. There is a visitor parking lot at the right of the main gate. Parking is free. Return to Menu

Driving Directions from San Francisco International Airport (SFO):

Exit the airport to take 101 N toward SAN FRANCISCO.
Merge onto I-380 W via the ramp- on the left- toward I-280/ SAN BRUNO.
Merge onto I-280 S via the exit- on the left- toward SAN JOSE. (19.77 miles)
Take the SAND HILL RD exit toward MENLO PARK. (0.16 miles)
Take the SAND HILL ROAD EAST ramp. (0.29 miles)
Merge onto SAND HILL RD. (1.04 miles)

From San Jose International Airport (SJC):

Start out going South on AIRPORT BLVD toward AIRPORT EXIT. (1.55 miles)
Turn LEFT onto COLEMAN AVE. (0.10 miles)
Merge onto I-880 S toward SANTA CRUZ. (2.39 miles)
Merge onto I-280 N toward SAN FRANCISCO. (17.94 miles)
Take the SAND HILL RD exit. (0.16 miles)
Take the SAND HILL ROAD EAST ramp. (0.12 miles)
Take the ramp toward MENLO PARK/ ATHERTON. (0.04 miles)
Merge onto SAND HILL RD. (0.62 miles)
