From Gilles Farrache Nov 13, 2000. I have seen Richard Mount commitment saying that SLAC will not upgrade the SLAC/ESnet link to OC12 before FY2002. I completly understand the SLAC position but our physicists are a little bit worried. In fact our plans are the following in term of bandwith: November 2000 : Direct VP ,given by Renater, between ESnet and PHYnet (30 Mbps average/ 40 Mbps Peak) given by Renater Between December 2000 and February 2001 : CERN/US upgrade to 155 Mbps. (no use for US as Lyon/CERN is kept at 34 Mbps) June 2001 : Lyon/CERN upgrade to 155 Mbps So in June 2001 we will have several options : Trafic to SLAC back to Lyon/CERN link and - Going throught ESnet or - Going throught Abilene Trafic kept throught VP but we do not know what will be the bandwith. So you have the French plans, but what about the others (England, US, Italy). Will it be possible to you to ask (or to give us if you already have it) the plans (and the bandwith available) for others nations. That will help our physicists to understand Richard's commitment. From Gilles Farrache October 5, 2000 Hello Les, Our Plan are the following : Renater is going to give us an ATM vc of 30 Mbps avg and 40 Mbps peak from Lyon to startap to make a peering with ESnet (I think Franck Simon from Renater has taken contact with Esnet (Is it posssible to jfl to check)). This VC will be upgradable in 7 month by 10 % per month or more (perhaps before depending on FT capacity to Startap). On this VC we are going to send all our Babar trafic (DO will take the current USLIC way). Cheers Gilles
