Accelerator Controls and Beam Instrumentation Home Page

Introduction

ACBI addresses issues of tuning and control in the LCLS for achieving and preserving the desired beam parameters and stability. Beam instrumentation and diagnostics throughout the machine are covered. These include standard diagnostics for beam position, size, energy, energy spread etc. as well as specialized devices to measure the unique short time pulse structure and timing of the bunches. The accelerator control system sets and reads back the parameters of the accelerator hardware devices such as RF and magnets, and monitors that they remain within specified tolerances. The control system is coupled to the RF system to provide timing signals to meet the unique stability requirements of the LCLS pulses. This page contains links to documentation, where specifications will be kept for devices and systems, meeting notes and links to other LCLS pages. The documentation on this page will grow and be updated frequently so as to become a comprehensive repository for all controls and instrumentation information for the LCLS.
