9.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION This is a single width CAMAC 16 channel analog output module designed and produced by Transiac Corporation to SLAC specifications. It consists of a digital memory, a single 16 bit DAC which updates 16 storage capacitors, and buffer amplifiers for each of the 16 outputs. 14 bits of dynamic range are guaranteed; typically as much as 16 bits may be useful. Outputs are single ended, referenced to CAMAC ground, and are connected via the "standard" SLC pinout on the 36 pin connector. An instruction manual is available from Transiac. Most of the information provided here is taken from this manual. For more complete information, refer to the manual.

9.2 SUMMARY OF SPECIFICATION (For full specification see manual.) Full scale range : +/- 10V Resolution : 16 bits Linearity : +/- 0.003% Monotonicity : 14 bits (0 - 50 degrees C) Noise, Droop : Less than 1 mV over 10 minute period Output Impedance : 0.1 Ohms maximum Output drive : +/- 5 milli amp minimum Output Protection : Survives DC Short to Common Maximum Latency Time: 8 mSec. for channel update DAC : Burr-Brown DAC 71-COB Power Requirements : +6V @ 960mA +24V @ 160mA -24V @ 144mA ______________________________ This chapter is adapted from ELDDOC #14, TRANSIAC 3016 D/A,

9.3 CAMAC COMMANDS o F0 An: Reads channel register 'n' (0-15) on (R1-R16). X=Q=1, except during initialization. For coding see below. o F3 A0: Reads module I.D. 3016 decimal. X=Q=1. o F16 An: Writes channel registers (0-15) from W1-W16. X=Q=1, except during initialization. For coding see below. o Z, or Power On: Resets all channels to 0 Volts. Approximately 5-6 milliseconds is required to complete this operation. Q=0 is returned for F0 and F16 commands during this time.

9.4 JUMPER Factory set to offset binary: jumpers E4 to E5, E2 to E1. Optionally two's complement (offset binary).

9.5 DATA ENCODING Voltage Data +10V 'FFFF' hex 0V '8000' hex -10V '0000' hex

9.6 CALIBRATION Offset Adjust: Set all channel registers to -10V. Adjust R25 to give output of -10.000V. Gain adjust: Set all channel registers to +10V. Adjust R24 to give output of +10.000V.
