8.8 RESPONSIBLE ENGINEER . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8-4 CHAPTER 8 CRATE VERIFIER (CV) The crate verifier is a single width CAMAC module used for verification of CAMAC crate operation and as an aid in problem diagnosis. The module includes a command line spy register, independent function read and write registers, LAM testing, and analog voltage and local temperature measurement. The write register is also useful as a crate power watchdog.

8.1 COMMAND LINE TESTS Load N,A,F,C,Z and I bits into the COMMAND register with S2 on every CAMAC cycle. Read COMMAND register with F3. R|R | | R| 1|1 | | 1| 3|2 | | | ----+----+----+----+ I|ZCAA|AAFF|FFFN| | 84|2118|421 | 6 |

8.2 WRITE-READ TESTS Write 'W' lines into 24 bit DATA register with F20 A0 S1. Read DATA register with F4 A0. The 24 bit ROTATE register o The 24 bit ROTATE register is initialized with (Z+C)*S2 for walking one pattern. o The ROTATE register is initialized with (Z+C)*S2 followed by F20 A3 for a walking zero pattern.

CRATE VERIFIER (CV) Page 8-2 o Read the ROTATE register with F4 A1 and rotate the bit left one place on S2. o The first read for the walking one state will be zero's. The next read will have a one in R1 and zero's in R24-R2. o The pattern will rotate from R24 to R1 on the twenty-sixth read. o The first read for the walking zero pattern will be all one's. The next read will have a zero in R1 and one's in R24-R2. o Read ROTATE register but do not advance is accomplished with F4 A2.

8.3 LAM TESTS o Clear LAM with (Z+C)*S2 o Set LAM with F20 A1 S1. o Reset LAM with F20 A2 S1.

8.4 ANALOG TESTS o The internal voltage referance must be set to 5.120 +/- .005 volts. o Read analog voltages n on R8-R1 with F5 An. V(mv) = f(40*Vin - 5120) o The absolute accuracy for voltage readings is +/-1%. n source f 0 +24 6 1 +12 3 2 +6 1.5 3 ground 1.0 4 -6 1.5 5 -12 3 6 -24 6 7 temperature 1 8 P1 6 9 P2 6 10 P3 6 11 P4 6

CRATE VERIFIER (CV) Page 8-3 12 P5 6 o Temperature = 40mv per degree centigrade. Zero degree centigrade = zero volts. o Absolute temperature accuracy is +/- 3 degrees.

8.5 MISCELLANEOUS o X = one for all valid commands. o Q = one for all valid commands except F3 where Q = zero.

8.6 COMMAND SUMMARY o (Z+C)*S2 Clear LAM and clear ROTATE register. o S2 Load COMMAND register. o F20 A0 Load DATA register. o F20 A1 Set LAM. o F20 A2 Reset LAM. o F20 A3 Set ROTATE register for walking zero. o F3 Read COMMAND register. o F4 A0 Read DATA register. o F4 A1 Read ROTATE register and rotate pattern left. o F4 A2 Read ROTATE register and don't rotate. o F4 A3 Read identification switches. o F5 An Read analog voltages.
