Temporarily Disabling Feedforward

Sometimes one wants to turn fast feedforward off for just a few minutes. This is typically done to see if it is the cause of energy jitter. This can be done by turning off a trigger.

Go to the FEED FOWRD DR12 panel (available off the FEEDBACK SYSTEM INDEX). Select the TRIG 301 (SAMP) button. Press DEACTIVATE DEVICE. Feedforward will now be maintaining a constant (not varying with time) energy request. Hit REACTIVATE DEVICE to turn it back on.

The difference between this and turning feedforward off as described in the previous section is that here we freeze feedforward's energy contribution at whatever it happened to be when the trigger was disabled. In contrast, setting the gain to zero forces feedforward's energy contribution to zero, a well defined state.
