NLCTA Sun Sparc Stations and Disk Configurations

There are two Sun Sparc Stations dedicated to the NLCTA.

The NLCTA Sun Sparc Stations are located:

tasun2 - in the NLCTA Control Room, Building 128.
This machine is used for production.
Control of the IOC's and the primary Control Room displays are on this workstation.
cdsun2 - in Building 5C, near MCC.
This machine is used for development.
General Unix development software is on this machine.
A Development IOC is attached to the network near this machine.
slcsun1 - On the Second Floor of MCC.
This machine is used for development.
The PEI-II development software is on this machine.
slcsun2 - in Building 5C, near MCC.
This machine is used for development.
The development software and the NLCTA CVS Repository are on this machine.
A Development IOC is attached to the network near this machine.

Periodic backups of all user areas on this machine will be made to the tape drive attached to slcsun2, on demand. These tapes will be stored in the SLC tape repository.

Complete backups of the user area on this machine are made on all weekdays. The backup system is locally developed, consisting of a cron-started shell script using tar to do complete backups to tape. The tape rotation sequence is monthly, with one tape per month day. Monthly snapshots of the backups are retained, by saving the tape made on the first Monday of each month.
