The NLCTA IOC's are connected to the NLCTA Control Room Sun Sparc Station via a switch box. Connecting to a specific IOC requires setting the selector box to the proper position and executing the tip hardwire command.
Normally, this should be done in an "IOC" window.
This window should be started with an "ioc" alias, like:

/usr/local/X11R5/bin.sun4/xterm \
-j -sk -sb -fn 9x15 -geometry 80x40+20+10 \
-title ioc -name ioc -sl 255 -e tip hardwire &"
This allows a larger buffer for looking at previous events and messages.
