Some new ELOG improvements are now available. The SLAC ELOG system now has the FCKeditor integrated into the Elog entry and supercede forms. This open source software allows users to use a WSIWYG editor to create a rich entry with functionality just like MS Word. The FCKeditor, which we are referring to it as the Advanced Editor, will allow users to write text, insert links, create a table, use a spell checker and much more. Some of the features have been disabled in our integration since some of them are not compatible with our system but you might see these features referred to in the documentation.
Since not all users will want to use the Advanced editor, or will be using a browser that is supported, the Advanced editor will be toggled off by default. Users will need to switch to the Advanced editor on each entry form by using the button above the entry’s text field. Users can easily switch back and forth freely without the loss of information
In addition to the Advanced editor feature, we have added a button which will insert a link into the an ELOG entry that links to Artemis. It will prompt the user for an Artemis ID # and create the link inside the text of the entry. This feature is only available while in the Advanced editor mode.
Information and help about the Advanced editor can be found by pressing the icon while in the Advanced editor mode and then following the external SLAC link for more information.
