2005 Structures Meetings

These meetings are organised on a weekly basis and are chaired by the group leader Juwen Wang.


  • Week 12-15-05. Inter-Departmental Xmas Party
  • Week 12-08-05(Andy -Mechanical stress simulations of L-band window, Wire measurement of impedance+kick factors of SWPI20 -Jim/Roger J./Juwen)
  • Week 11-03-05.(Gordon -L band room temp structure mechanical design for positron capture accelerator, Dian -L band window optimization, Jim -measurement of S21 of feed-throughs, Roger J. -S21 and mode simulations of wire measurement)
  • Week 9-29-05.(Zenghai -Analysis of BPM for ILC, Roger -Mode coupling and emittance dilution amelioration via splitting of tune, Gordon -Heat flow analysis for positron accelerating cell, Jim -S matrix measurements of RF feed throughs)
  • Week 8-18-05. No meeting. Several attend Snowmass 2005 ALCPG & ILC Workshop
  • Week 8-11-05 (Juwen - Positron injector accelerator draft report to be presented at Snowmass 2005 ALCPG & ILC Workshop, Gordon - Mechanical design/cooling for warm L-band structures for positron source, Jim -Beam pull measurement of SLAC S-band structures for LCLS, Roger J. - Transverse mode coupling in the main L-band linacs of the ILC).
  • Week 7-28-05 (Chris A. -High gradient results on CERN Tungsten-coated irises, Juwen/Roger M. -Superfish/Parmela simulations of positron source accelerating structures, Gordon - Mechanical design/cooling for warm L-band structures for positron source, Jim -Beam pull measurement of SLAC S-band structures for LCLS).
  • Week 7-07-05 (Nicoleta from DESY gave a summary of HOM experiments at TTF, Juwen -pointed out remaining issues for understanding the coaxial wire measurement method, Jim - summarized wire measurements/calibrations made with Nicoleta and Roger J., Gordon -Mechanical design of L-band room temp accelerator).
  • Week 6-30-05 (Chris A. -H60VG4SL17A ASSET Wake experimental results vs theoretical prediction, Erik -Cooling of L-band positron room temp accelerator, Gordon -Mechanical design of L-band room temp accelerator).
  • Week 6-16-05. No meeting. Many attend internal DOE HEP Program Review.
  • Week 5-26-05 (Roger M - Positron capture and bunching by deceleration)
  • Week 5-19-05. No meeting. Several attend PAC05.
  • Week 5-5-05 (Roger M - Positron capture and bunching by deceleration a PARMELA study, Roger J. -Preliminary HFSS calc of HOM in TESLA cavities, Roger J -Emittance dilution due to wakefields cross-coupling vertical to horizontal motion from an entirely horizontal injection offset)
  • Week 4-28-05 (Roger J -Emittance dilution due to wakefields coupling vertical to horizontal beam motion from mode rotation and frequency splitting, Juwen - Future R&D)
  • Week 4-21-05 (Juwen -Daresbury positron source workshop+ DESY visit briefing, Steffen - Windows discussion from DESY visit, Gordon -Engineering issues for future L-band SW structures)
  • Week 4-7-05 (Roger J.- Tuning, energy gain and susceptability to systematic and random errors in 11-cell positron cavity, Erik - Cooling of warm L-band positron pre-accelerator cavity)
  • Week 3-24-05 (Chris A. - Crab cavity design considerations, Zenghai - ILC Cavity BPM analysis, Valery - Eqv circuit modeling continued from last week)
  • Week 3-17-05 (Juwen - Analysis & summary of of freq sensitivity and pulse temperature heating in L-band SW structure, Valery - Eqv circuit modeling of field sensitivity to freq shift in end cell of L-band 11-cell accelerator, Roger M. - Positron capture and bunching by deceleration, Zenghai - L-band 5 cell Q and pulse temp modeling)
  • Week 3-3-05 (Zenghai - coupler design for PPS SW structures, Roger J - mode freqs and wake for upcoming ASSET exp, Erik - status/to do simulations of the cooling of positron capture cells, Chris A - Crab cavity warm/cold design options, Roger M - positron capture and bunching by deceleration)
  • Week 2-17-05 (Zenghai - coupler design for PPS SW structures, All -Discussion led by Juwen on practical issues for cooling and fabricating L-band warm SW structure)
  • Week 2-10-05 (Joe - Exp results and analysis of modes in TTF cavities, Chris A. - Analysis of I and Q of TTF modes, Erik - Ansys simulation of temp rise and stresses in water cooled posititron capture linac's cell)
  • Week 1-27-05 (Erik - Ansys simulation of temp rise and stresses in water cooled posititron capture linac's cell, Valery -HFSS simulation of fields and temp rise in Paramonov's bi-periodic positron capture linac)
  • Week 1-13-05 (Jose/Juwen -Cooling positron capture linac, Chris A -Temp in warm L-band linac, Valery -HFSS simulation of fields in Paramonov's bi-periodic positron capture linac, Roger - Higher order modes in TESLA structures + TTF measurements)
  • Week 1-06-05 (Discussion of Paramonov's KEK report 2001-14 on an annular accelerator for proton linacs, Zenghai - SW cavity parameters for positron L-band linac)
