RESOLVE Preprocessor Help

If you are a first time user:

If you are a beginning user and have already executed the instructions above. Here is guidance on use of the resolve preprocessors.

Next you will need to convert your.cnf bpm data to a RESOLVE formatted .bpm file. To do this you execute

$@USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COM]make_monitors
This calls a piece of code called "conv.exe" to generate the .bpm file.

At this point you are ready to run resolve. Edit your login.com file and add the following instructions (this will already have been done for you if you executed @USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COM]SETUP1.COM)

$!
$! RESOLVE SETUP, perform once per login
$!
$ define res$dir   user_disk_slc:[mjl.res_x]
$ define res$image user_disk_slc:[mjl.res_x]res_shr.exe
$ res_x     :== $res$dir:res_x.exe

You will want to enable an x-windows display. To do this on a machine other than SLC or MCC you must first permit SLC or MCC (the computer on which RESOLVE will be running) to display to your monitor. On a VMS system this will require going to the OPTIONS menu, selecting SECURITY, and enabling "?" or "Your Username" from "MCC" or "SLC" to display via transport TCPIP or DECNET. On a UNIX system, use the xhost command.

Next you log on to SLC or MCC, use the set display command and run resolve. All these commands can be dealt with by executing

$@USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COM]RESOLVE_START.COM
(If you always display to the same machine you don't need anything quite as elaborate as this .com) At this point you are in the hands of the RESOLVE User Manual. Good luck!

See example.
