If you are a first time user:
$set default sys$login $create/directory [.RESOLVE] $set default [.resolve] $copy USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COMFORT5]NPSLAC.OPTIONS * $create/directory [.scratch] $create/directory [.trash]
MCC::SCR_CNF:[BPM_INJ_ELEC] MCC::SLCMODLANL:MODLSECT_08
If you are a beginning user and have already executed the instructions above. Here is guidance on use of the resolve preprocessors.
$@USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COM]make_beamline
PRINT, RESOLVE PRINT, TWISSto the mtemp.comfin file.
MTEMP.RESOLVE (to define the beamline layout) GROUPFILE.GROUP (to define power supply chains for each type of magnet)
FOR000.DAT ---report on COMFORT Run completion
MTEMP.OUTPUT ---Tabulation of Machine Functions
MTEMP.TWISS ---Control Parameters for Fitting Algorithm
(just a reiteration of what is in NPSLAC.OPTIONS)
MTEMP.ECHO ---A reiteration of the echo file
TEMP.COM ---Just a temporary command file used for running read_echo$@USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COM]make_monitorsThis calls a piece of code called "conv.exe" to generate the .bpm file.
At this point you are ready to run resolve. Edit your login.com file and add the following instructions (this will already have been done for you if you executed @USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COM]SETUP1.COM)
$! $! RESOLVE SETUP, perform once per login $! $ define res$dir user_disk_slc:[mjl.res_x] $ define res$image user_disk_slc:[mjl.res_x]res_shr.exe $ res_x :== $res$dir:res_x.exe
You will want to enable an x-windows display. To do this on a machine other than SLC or MCC you must first permit SLC or MCC (the computer on which RESOLVE will be running) to display to your monitor. On a VMS system this will require going to the OPTIONS menu, selecting SECURITY, and enabling "?" or "Your Username" from "MCC" or "SLC" to display via transport TCPIP or DECNET. On a UNIX system, use the xhost command.
Next you log on to SLC or MCC, use the set display command and run resolve. All these commands can be dealt with by executing
$@USER_DISK_SLC1:[GLAD.COM]RESOLVE_START.COM(If you always display to the same machine you don't need anything quite as elaborate as this .com) At this point you are in the hands of the RESOLVE User Manual. Good luck!
