Overview

Whenever you add images or any other files to a project, you must also add them to SourceSafe. Otherwise, the new file will only exist locally on your computer and will be unavailble to other users.

With regards to the ARDA website, you should regularly check your Assets folder to see if any new files have been added. The subfolders in the Styles folder need only be checked if you are editing the SLAC style.

Let’s assume that I’ve used a new image called MyPic.jpg in the ARDA website. The file MyPic.jpg should now also exist in the Assets folder within my working folder, but has not yet been added to the SourceSafe database. I will do that now in the instructions below.  To see how to delete MyPic.jpg from the project, take a look at removing files.

Adding Files to SourceSafe

  1. Open SourceSafe. You should find it at Start->Microsoft Visual SourceSafe->Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0.

  2. Navigate to and click on the “Assets” folder under ARDA_WEBSITE.

  3. Click the “Add Files” button on the toolbar; it is depressed in the image above. Alternatively, you can select File->Add Files... from the menubar.

  4. A dialogue box will pop up.  The window on the right will display the path to the Assets folder in your working folder.  The window on the left displays all files that are not in SourceSafe’s copy of the Assets folder. You can see that only MyPic.jpg is not in SourceSafe.

  5. To add the file, select it, then click “Add” in the dialogue box.  Or you could leave *.* in place and add every new file to Assets.

  6. In the next dialogue box that pops up, add whatever comments you think are necessary, then press “OK.”

NOTE: adding pages to a NetObjects site does not add any new files to the project.  The new pages are contained in the single NetObjects file.
