Source Monitoring Responsibilities for E-158 Summer 2003

 

1.                  Source Cycle Coordinator

 

The Source Cycle Coordinator is in overall charge of sources monitoring. The Coordinator is responsible for the daily source operational program. The Source Cycle Coordinator for E-158 Summer 2003 is Axel Brachmann.

 

2.                  Source Liaison

 

Each Source Liaison serves for 1 week beginning on Tuesday at the end of the 8:00 am Daily Operations Status Meeting in MCC. The Source Cycle Coordinator will maintain an up-to-date schedule of Source Liaisons on the Sources Group website: http://www.slac.stanford.edu/grp/ad/source/slaconly/liaison_schedule.html.

 

The duties of the Source Liaison include:

 

a)                  Post pager number on MCC board and keep pager active 24 hours a day.

b)                  Advise MCC on operation of source, including timing of re-cesiations.

c)                  Monitor the operation of the e- sources, the Polarized Light Source, the Injector and Sector 1.

d)                  Enter daily the source performance in the PES Liaison Form (http://www.slac.stanford.edu/grp/ad/source/slaconly/PES_form.html ), a link to which can be found on the PES home page. (The instructions for PES Liaison Form are also linked on the PES home page.)  Print completed Forms to the ACCELOG. Document maintenance activities and unusual  occurrences in the ACCELOG.

e)                  Attend the 8:00 am Daily Operations Status Meeting and report on source status or plans when appropriate. Attendance on weekends and holidays is optional when the PES is operating normally. A remote SCP should be used to monitor source performance at least once everyday the Liaison is not actually at SLAC.

f)                    Ensure the Standby Maintenance List includes all items of concern to the PES.

g)                  At the end of the week as Liaison, present a summary at the PES weekly meeting (Tuesday 9:00 am) of the source operational and maintenance activities for the past week. The summary should also be printed to the ACCELOG.

h)                  When necessary, assist MCC in correcting any problem with the operation of the source. If necessary, call in additional experts starting with the Polarized Source Call-In List in MCC.

i)                    Keep the EOIC, the Program Deputy (PD), and the Source Cycle Coordinator informed in a timely manner of any problems affecting the performance or readiness of the sources.
