It can be difficult to interpret the function of a PEP magnet from it's LGPS name, since there are a great variety of magnet functions and the conventions for naming are multi-fold. Below is a glossary by example. The italicized part of the LGPS name is discussed in the explaination field.
BBM1 | Bending magnet in the LER IR2 beta match region. |
---|---|
BBM1 | Bending magnet in the LER IR2 beta match region. |
BBM1 | One of a family of this type of bending magnet. |
BCC4 | A dipole associated with LER IR2 chromatic correction. |
BCX2 | A dipole associated with LER IR2 horizontal chromatic correction. |
BCX2L | A dipole associated with LER IR2 horizontal chromatic correction which lives on the left side (i.e. on the arc 1 side) of IR2. |
BM1R | Bump magnet (one of a family) associated with the injection septum steering setup. |
BLF | Low field strength bending magnet. |
QFS2SR03 | Focusing quadrupole of some otherwise complicatd designation. |
QFS2SR03 | Focusing quadrupole associated with arc dispersion suppression. |
QFS2SR03 | Focusing quadrupole associated with dispersion suppression in region 3 or arc 3. |
QFS2E | Focusing quadrupole associated with arc dispersion suppression. HER dispersion suppressors for most arcs are powered with one power supply per suppressor family member for all arcs. Author's guess is that this would be QFS2 for the entire ring?. |
QDRF4 | Quadrupole associated with the lattice for the RF straights. |
QDP8R06 | Quadrupole associated with the phase trombone in straight 6. |
QDP8R06 | Quadrupole associated with the phase trombone in straight 6. |
QF/QF90 | A string of QF magnets. Here is a case for confusion. HER arc lattice is 60 degrees per cell for all arcs. At one point in the HER lattice design there was plan for 60 degree lattice for most arcs, but arcs one and three were to have 90 degree lattices. So to this day the arc one and three magnets are called QF90/QD90, but they aren't really any different than any other arc's QF/QD magnets. |
QD0I | Quadrupole associated with the lattice for the injection straight. |
QDW8A | Quadrupole associated with the lattice for a wiggler straight. |
QFCX1R1 | Quadrupole associated with the horizontal chromatic correction section of LER IR2. |
QFCX1R2 | The second of a family of Quadrupoles associated with the horizontal chromatic correction section of LER IR2. |
QFCX1L1 | Quadrupole associated with the horizontal chromatic correction section on the left side (i.e. towards arc 1) of LER IR2. |
QDBM3L | Quadrupole associated with the beta matching section on the left side of LER IR2. |
QFB1R01 | Quadrupole associated with the beta bump in arc 1 used for lattice enhancement at sextupole magnets. |
SQG1 | HER Skew quadrupole. The HER skew quadupoles are called "SQs". The LER skew quadrupoles are called "SKs". |
SKG3 | LER global skew quadrupole. |
SQ4L | HER IR2 local (implicit in the absence of G in the name) skew quadrupole on the left side of IR. |
SF | Focusing sextupole. With no further description this would tend to indicate a string of magnets. |
SCY3R01 | LER sextupole associated with chromatic correction in Y in arc 1. LER IR2 local sextupoles (including arcs 1 and 3) are called for example SCY3R03 and SCX2, whereas HER are called for example SF6B and SD2A. |
