Lattice Description

HER SF6B powers the two SF sextupoles in arc 1.

All 6 HER arcs have SF and SD magnets.

The four arcs not adjacent to collision straight IR2 have their chromatic correction (SF/SD layout) done the same way. These arcs have 12 SFs and 12 SDs (each powered in series for all four arcs).

Arcs 1 and 3 have have strong localized SF/SD magnets to compenstate locally for the chromatic effects of the collision point beta function squeeze. Each of arc 1 and arc 3 have two SF magnets and two SD magnets.

SF3B/SF6B magnets are rather strong (400kG/m compared to 134kG/m for "regular" arc SF magnets). Additionally, the beta function at these magnets is squeezed in X by the QFS/QDS3 - QFS/QDS1 family of arc 3 dispersion suppresssor quads.

The purpose of this strong magnet strong beta function scheme is to compensate the chromatic effects of the IR2 strong focusing quads as close to IR2 as feasable. Each of these arc's SF pairs have 180 degrees betatron phase separation. Each of these SFs has the same betatron phase (modulo 2pi) as either the QF5L or QF5R magnets used to generate the small IP betax*.
