For Individual BPMs

When a group of BPMs have their times scattered all over the place, or just a few need to be tweaked, it's best to edit the individual BPMSs. These live in BPM_micr.DBS, and the secondary you want to change is (usually) MUXT.

How to:

       Take BPM timing data.

If you want to move the plotted signal to the LEFT,
              increase the value of MUXT.

If you want to move the plotted signal to the RIGHT,
              decrease the value of MUXT.

MUXT, it seems, moves in units of PDU ticks (8.4 nsec) at least for the PI00 BPMs.

For EP-type BPMS, there is also a VDLY variable that isn't behaving the way I though it would right now so we'll wait on that one. In theory, VDLY moves in steps of 1 nsec (I *think*, unless there's something more subtle going on here...).

MUXT and VDLY edits can be moved into action by using the "Update Micro BPM DB" button on the BPM DIAGNOSTICS panel and answering the prompts accordingly.

If an entire micro's BPMs are off by the same amount:

First, find out which crates the BPMs are in. This information will show up in the lower right of the BPM Diagnostics Panel, under the BPMP HSTA button, when you select the BPMS or BPMP using the appropriate buttons. Note: you won't have to toggle through as many units if you use BPMPs. The BPMP numbers are written below the BPMS unit numbers on the BPM timing plot displays.

Edit the PDU database file PDU_micr.DBS where you will find the BPMT secondary for each PDU. (Each PDU has its own field, PDU 1 is in crate 1, etc.)

       **Do NOT edit TREF!**

For the PEP2 BPMs, this secondary has two fields, one for HER, one for LER. Units are PEP PDU ticks (2.1 nsec) if there are two fields, "normal" PDU ticks (8.4 nsec) if there's only one BPMT field.

See "How To" above for which direction to change BPMT, it's the same as MUXT.

To make PDU database changes active, you must IPL.
