The purpose of this memo is remind you of the requirements for the upcoming
PPS certifications. The following items need be ready before the PPS
certification can be done in your area.
The schedule for the PPS Certifications is as follows.
The DRIP Interlock Certification: None
The DRIP Hazard Certification: None
The DRIP Radiation Certification: None
The NDR Interlock Certification: April 15
The NDR Hazard Certification: April 19
The NDR Radiation Certification: April 20
The SDR Interlock Certification: April 16
The SDR Hazard Certification: April 19
The SDR Radiation Certification: April 20
The following conditions are needed prior to starting the tests.
(1) All non-PPS personnel must exit the enclosures.
(2) All AC and DC power available as required by the PPS.
(3) All keybank keys returned.
(4) Air and gas supply available for stoppers and BTMs. BTMs need to be
leak checked and leaks fixed, if required.
(5) Water supply on and available for stoppers, if required.
(6) All Hazards checked in these procedures have magnet interlocks and
power supply interlocks made up except for PPS permits.
(7) An MCC Operator search will be needed for the Interlock, Hazard and
Radiation (Global) Certification Procedures in the Damping Ring Vaults.
(8) The DRIP hazards that need to be tested because they were not during
the last Linac Verification are with asterisks (*).
NDR Interlock - Initial Setup
1 Set the STOPPER ENABLE keyswitch on the PPS North Vault Control Panel in
to the DISABLE position and remove key.
2 Disable the NDR magnet power supplies by one of the following options:
[1] Lock & Tag or [2] Remove PPS Permit at the Hazard Control Panel.
3 Set the NDR to PERMITTED ACCESS.
4 Place a PPS placard on the outside of NDR DN-1 Door warning "PPS TEST IN
PROGRESS - DO NO ENTER" or equivalent.
NDR Electrical Hazard - Initial Setup
1 Set the DRIP to RESTRICTED ACCESS or NO ACCESS with an Operator search.
2 Set the South Damping Ring Vault to RESTRICTED ACCESS with an Operator
search.
3 Set the STOPPER ENABLE/DISABLE keyswitch on the PPS Damping Ring South
Vault Control Panel to the DISABLED position and remove key.
4 Verify that RASK keys are available for the PPS Damping Ring South
Vault RASK Hazard Control Panel.
5 All Hazards checked in this procedure have magnet interlocks and power
supply interlocks made up except for PPS permits.
NDR Radiation - Initial Setup
1 Set the Linac sectors to secure and the Security Loop Summary to OK.
2 Set the North Damping Vault to CONTROLLED ACCESS with an Operator search.
3 Verify the Linac VVSs have permits.
4 The STOPPER ENABLE/DISABLE keyswitch on the PPS North Damping Vault
Stopper Permit Switch Panel is in the ENABLED position.
5 All stoppers (including electrical) checked in this procedure are
functional and have magnet and power supply interlocks made up except for
PPS permits.
SDR Interlock - Initial Setup
1 Set the STOPPER ENABLE keyswitch on the PPS South Vault Control Panel in
to the DISABLE position and remove key.
2 Disable the SDR magnet power supplies by one of the following options:
[1] Lock & Tag or [2] Remove PPS Permit at the Hazard Control Panel.
3 Set the SDR to PERMITTED ACCESS.
4 Place a PPS placard on the outside of SDR DN-1 Door warning "PPS TEST IN
PROGRESS - DO NO ENTER" or equivalent.

Vault Control Panel to the DISABLED position and remove key.
4 Verify that RASK keys are available for the PPS Damping Ring South Vault
RASK Hazard Control Panel.
5 All Hazards checked in this procedure have magnet interlocks and power
supply interlocks made up except for PPS permits.
SDR Radiation - Initial Setup
