SLAC Day Thurs Sep/22/2011
This is part of the two day program for incoming new graduate students at Stanford starting Fall 2011. The Thursday Sep/22/2011 program will be hosted at SLAC, while the Wednesday Sep/21 program will be organized on campus. * Description of visLab Demo: The presentation features 3D visualizations of astrophysical simulations carried out by researchers at KIPAC. The animations highlight processes like the evolution of large scale structures in the early universe, the formation of the first stars and massive black holes in proto-galaxies, as well as the epoch of re-ionization. The show will be presented in 3D using KIPAC's stereoscopic HD projection system. Each cycle of the display is ~30min and will be continuously rolling with guide answering questions at the display.
