BooNE Is Beginning Eric D. Zimmerman, Univ. of Colorado BooNE, a neutrino oscillation experiment at Fermilab, is approaching the start of data collection. The experiment is searching for nu_mu to nu_e oscillations in an effort to check the LSND result from Los Alamos. I'll discuss the current picture of neutrino oscillation physics and cover the experiment in detail, including the beamline, detector, and cross-checks on the beam and reconstruction. Additionally, I'll show the progress of the experiment through detector completion, beamline construction, and first signals from the detector.
