We present preliminary results on semileptonic $B$ decays obtained with the BABAR detector. The large dataset accumulated at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $B$ Factory allows a new measurement technique, where one fully reconstructed B meson decays hadronically and the recoiling $B$ decays semileptonically. Traditional analysis techniques complement this approach of tagging $B\bar{B}$ events with semileptonic $B$ decays. The analyses aim at determinations of the CKM matrix elements $|V_{cb}|$, $|V_{ub}|$, and parameters of Heavy Quark Effective Theory.
