Subject: muon stopping Dear Peter, Attached please find thee plots which are the results of the FLUKA calculations by our resident FLUKA expert, Stefan Roesler, showing the number of stopping 10 GeV muon in iron. Sayed Hi Sayed, Welcome back! Hope you had a good trip and some nice hikes in Arizona. > > If you get a chance to take a look at the muon problem, you can find it in > ~rokni/NLC1/fluka/muon. If you do not get the time, don't worry about it. > I've had a look at your muon problem. Please find attached the plots with the results. The first plot (stopping-z.ps) shows the distribution of the z-location where the muon stops calculated with mgdraw. Similarly, the second plot (stopping-R.ps) shows the radial distribution of the stopping location. This plot gives dN/dA (A=pi*R^2) but can be easily converted into dN/dR within gnuplot. The last plot shows again the distribution of the z-location of the stopping calculated with mgdraw and, in addition, calculated from the first derivative of the fluence (usrbin). As you can see, both are in perfect agreement, however mainly because the angular delection of the muon is small as compared to the longitudinal dimensions (fluence approx. equal to current). The files are in ~roesler/NLC/muon in the usual sub-directory structure. Ciao, Stefan
