Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 9/25/01 Minutes Attendees: P. Bosted, T. Weber, M. Palrang, W. Olson, D. Waltz, R. Arnold, S. Kuhn, , B. Brugnoletti, G. Oxoby, J. Weisend Items Discussed: 1. The LASS magnet test is planned for next Monday, Oct.1. If necessary it can extend into the following day as well. There will be a LH2 target Oct 3. - Oct 5. P. Bosted has developed a run plan and has spoken to R. Erickson re scheduling and P. Anthony re safety. The existing 1-inch hose will be used for magnet cooling. After the meeting K. Baird was chosen to act as the safety officer for the test. Tom Weber volunteered to be his assistant. 2. There was a lot f discussion regarding the alignment and support of the beam pipe that goes through the alumina blocks in D3 for E160. There are basically 2 options: the first is to use ribs containing setscrews to make the final adjustment of the pipe. The second is to use the blocks themselves plus shims to align the pipe correctly and then not allow any further changes. After the meeting W. Olson made the decision to position the beam pipe independently of the alumina bricks. The details of how it is secured have yet to be finalized. Everyone's input was much appreciated and helped the decision process. Decisions Reached 1. The box containing the alumina, beam pipe and target chamber will be assembled on a precision table which will then be moved up to magnet and the box will be pulled into place in the D3 magnet. New Action Items 1. T. Weber will contact Coors to find out what the expected error in the alumina blocks will be. Ongoing Action Items 1. Once the lead is removed from the front of D3 T. Weber and M. Palrang will make measurements to allow the designing of the final E160 target/D3 system 2. This summer's LASS magnet tests. 3. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. G. Oxoby will start tabulating these numbers based on the data acquisition memo and additional information from the collaboration. J. G. Weisend II 2
