Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 6/11/02 Minutes Attendees: R. Arnold, P. Bosted, R. Erickson, L. Keller W. Olson, S. Rock, D. Walz Items Discussed: 1. Discussed the E160 CDR and edited the agenda. 2. Bruno is working on the Pincushion detector and incorporating it on the front of 3DC2. 3. 3DC2 is to have a 14mm bore, be 40 radiation lengths long, and be approximately 5.5" O.D. It will be made of copper with a tungsten sleeve. A water jacket will be provided for cooling. 4. The beam pipe will be 1cm inside radius through LASS, and then expand to 2cm inside radius downstream of LASS. Shielding around the beam pipe is yet to be determined. 5. There will be approximately 1.2 m3 of copper and approximately 1.4 m3 of iron in LASS. 6. Polyurethane is another possible material to go between the front and middle detector planes. Decisions Reached 1. See items 3 and 4 above. New Action Items 1. None. Ongoing Action Items 1. T. Weber will get prices for cast copper and tin. 2. P. Bosted to determine material to be in front of the middle spectrometer detector panel. (In progress) 3. J. Weisend will work with D. Crabb and R. Principe to develop a detailed drawing showing the dilution refrigerator and the proposed superconducting magnet. 4. J. Weisend to name responsible cable person, who will make a list of the cables required from the counting house to ESA and an overall cable list. 5. P. Bosted will continue the physics simulations of the proposed change to the RPC design. (In progress) 6. The interaction of the LASS magnet and all its iron with the E161/ E159 7-T target magnet needs to be carefully modeled using a 3-D field simulation. (In progress) 7. Serious engineering of the shielding and earthquake supports associated with the LASS magnet must be started. 8. T. Weber will investigate other E160 target materials to replace the Pb and Au for example Tantalum or Platinum. (In progress) W. Olson
