Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 7/31/01 Minutes Attendees: L. Keller, W. Olson, M. Racine, G. Oxoby, S. Mao, J. Weisend, D. Walz Items Discussed: 1. Stan Mao presented his first draft report of the radiation safety issues associated with E160. He is gathering information on the electron beam power and the various magnet settings. 2. The status of the LASS magnet was discussed: a. Steve Lowe will provide a quote for the cables b. EFD staff will do the buss work c. T. Tuck will continue to hook up the water lines. d. After an acid wash, they will purge the line with nitrogen gas for a week. This presents a possible oxygen deficiency hazard and must be reviewed by Wes Craddock and possibly HEEC. Decisions Reached: 1. Stan Mao does not think that additional sandbags are required for the shielding. 2. G. Kraft will work on the design of the beam shielding in D3 with Keith and Peter and on the target with Tom. New Action Items 1. Stan has asked that we keep the concrete tunnel in place for E160. Is this possible? Desirable? 2. Terry Tuck and Wes Craddock should meet to discuss the oxygen deficiency issues associated with the LASS work. Ongoing Action Items 1. This summer's LASS magnet tests. 1. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. 2. Someone should be clearly identified as responsible for the Compton Polarimeter 3. We need to start factoring radiation safety and accident scenarios into the E160 design. Someone needs to be given responsibility for this task J. G. Weisend II 2
