Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 8/21/01 Minutes Attendees: L. Keller, W. Olson, G. Oxoby, R. Rogers, P. Bosted, T. Weber, D. Waltz, K. Griffioen, J. Weisend Items Discussed: 1. The possibility of using the Q38 power supply for one of the sweep magnets was discussed. The power supply provides 1200 A at 120 V and may be useful for the smaller sweep magnet. However, the larger sweep magnet requires 3000 A 2. R. Rogers has completed about 80 % of the overall layout drawing of the E160 experiment. He will provide a copy to G. Oxoby to assist in cable layout. 3. The attendees agreed upon the necessity of having the coils for the dump magnets constructed as soon as possible to provide maximum schedule flexibility for E160. 4. T. Weber has a bid on alumina ceramic bricks sized 2 x 4 x 6 with a density of 3.9 at a cost of $27 per brick. He will order 3 of them for testing. Decisions Reached: 1. Unfired alumina bricks are not suitable for use in E160. 2. R. Arnold and K. Baird will be responsible for the E160 radiation safety issues. G. Kraft will generate ray traces to support this work. K. Baird will provide magnet apertures to G. Kraft 3. M. Palrang will provide design support to T. Weber for detailed design of the E160 target system. In particular, location of the target relative to magnet D3 will be checked. New Action Items 1. P. Bosted will investigate whether 18D76 or 18D36 is the appropriate magnet to be used in the Compton polarimeter. Ongoing Action Items 1. This summer's LASS magnet tests. 2. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. G. Oxoby will start tabulating these numbers based on the data acquisition memo and additional information from the collaboration. 3. T. Tuck, K. Baird and W. Craddock will meet to discuss any oxygen deficiency issues associated with the LASS magnet work. J. G. Weisend II 2
