Real Photon Collaboration Engineering Meeting 8/7/01 Minutes Attendees: L. Keller, W. Olson, K. Baird, G. Oxoby, R. Rogers, P. Bosted, T. Weber, D. Waltz, A. Candia, J. Weisend Items Discussed: 1. G. Oxoby , P Stiles and T. Fieguth have all the pieces for the goniometer electronics and controls. They would like to get a dedicated PC and a place to set up the test bed for software development. W. Olson will talk to P. Anthony about the PC. Room has been found for the test bed in 104b 2. The status of the LASS magnet was discussed: a. Steve Lowe believes the power supplies in Bldg. 108 will work for this magnet. b. K. Baird has a plan for earthquake support of the magnet which he will discuss with P. Kaul or K. Yang. c. Roughly 5200 A are needed to power this magnet. 3. T. Weber has a bid on alumina ceramic bricks sized 3 x 4 x 7 with a density of 3.0 and 91 % alumina. The cost is $7 per brick. P. Bosted has a quote for bricks sized 2 x 4 x 6 with a density of 3.6 at a cost of $10 per brick. T. Weber will follow up with P. Bosted's contact. The possibility of using unfired high density alumina was also discussed. Decisions Reached: 1. The baseline plan is to leave the E158 shielding as is for E160. Changing it would have expensive implications in radiation shielding, earthquake supports and movement of electrical conduit. 2. Ross Hicks (Umass) has been identified as responsible person for the Compton polarimeter. New Action Items 1. L. Keller and K. Baird will meet with S. Mao on the E160 radiation safety issues and identify a responsible person for this work. 2. T. Weber will inquire about the possibility of using unfired high density alumina in D3. Ongoing Action Items 1. This summer's LASS magnet tests. 2. Number of cables required from the counting house to ESA. G. Oxoby will start tabulating these numbers based on the data acquisition memo and additional information from the collaboration. 3. T. Tuck, K. Baird and W. Craddock will meet to discuss any oxygen deficiency issues associated with the LASS magnet work. J. G. Weisend II 2
