Attending: Peter Bosted, Keith Griffioen, Bill Olson, John Weisend, Don Crabb, Perry Anthony Funding: At meeting this morning, Persis Drell and Steve Williams announce that they are halting all work on the RPC experiments, including the engineering/design effort that is presently ongoing. A very small amount can be spent do document where we are now, but only at the few thousand dollar level. This is based on the tight budget projected for FY03 (on continuing resolution now), and lack of encouragement from Dennis Kovar (head of DOE Nuclear Physics) that funds for RPC can be secured in FY04. A strong effort is needed to convince DOE NP that the RPC experiments (esp. E160) is part of the "core mission", and thus should get enough priority to be funded. Agreed to contact folowing: Steve Rock, contact: G. Igo, Vahe G. , M. Srickman, R. Milner Peter Bosted, contact:, G. Miller, S. Klein, L. Cardman Keith, contact: C. Carlson, D. Walecka, Kapeliavich Also agreed that we should try to meet with J. Dorfin to get his advice. The E160 Final Design Review will be postponed until funding for design comes back. Coll. Meeting: still on Nov. 1, 4. Bill Olson won't be coming: there will be less focus on E160 review. Either John W. or Perry A. will come to discuss budget/schedule, and targets. Friday meeting would be good chance to focus on motivation/physics of RPC experiments: potential supporters or new collaborators could be invited to attend.
