Present: Peter Bosted, Don Crabb, Keith Griffioen, Piotr Bill Olson, John Weisend, Perry Anthony Requirements: Perry says Tim Thurston will provide help in defining the experimental needs next week. Peter expressed frustration that not enough people are working seriously on the experiment, and that the design requirements between target, beam, spectrometer, and detector are closely interlinked in a complicated way. Target: Seppo and Don working on fridge past week. Making list of materials and modifications. Is 1 cm diameter thin enough? Peter says bigger is better. Are the thermal radiation shields too thick? Need to look at. May 15 review on track. Dumping Beam: Do we need to dump beam in E.S.A.? Do we need cold irradiation of target option? Don will think about this some more. We need to see if back-splash from a dump in ESA could be a problem, requiring photon beam to be dumped in beam dump east. Simulations: Peter has been working on spectrometer requirements, driven by detecting at least 200 clean psi prime events for 4 targets at two energies. Found cut near cos(theta-star) near zero improves signal to noise. Found more statistics can compensate for worse resolution, but at some point resolution psi and psi-prime peaks merge and can no longer be separated.
