Meeting of February 28, 2001

Present: Peter Bosted, Don Crabb, Keith Griffioen, Steve Rock, Bill Olson

1) Photon beam. 
   a) Roger Erickson agreed to be overall project manager.
      He is working on getting an Acc. Imp. Project going. Discussed
      plans to remove magnets asap. Needs new beam pipe. Dieter and
      Roger will set up bi-weekly meetings to get project moving
   b) Peter is working with Yerevan on proposal to get money from 
      State Dept. to support their group (former weapons designers)
   c) Design studies indicate a crystal size of 8 mm by 8 mm by 80 um
      should work. Yerevan will provide several of these.
   d) Peter needs to write to S. Africans to tell them that we 
      decided to accept them as collaborators.

2) Target
   a) We agreed to add dipole field to solonoid. Don has been in
      contact with Oxford
   b) Don has been looking into what is needed for HEEK approvel
      (vacuum vessel safety)

3) Detectors
   a) Keith has been talking with Vahe and Sebastian about 
      design and assembly project.
   b) A writeup with Requirements, Design, Costs, and Components
      is needed asap before SLAC can release any money for prototypes
   c) We agreed that individual HV channels is very desirable.
      Cost of UCLA system appears less than commercial CAEN units.

4) Spectrometer
   a) LASS dipole will be moved to ESA in a few weeks. 

5) Bill Olson was introduced: he will consider the offer to be
   Project Engineer. 

6) Management Plan was discussed.
