Present: Peter Bosted, Don Crabb, Keith Griffioen, Bill Olson, Steve Rock, John Weisend Photon Beam: Commissioning plan has been prepared. Bill Olson and Perry Anthony met a few weeks ago with Steve Williams and John Seaman to discuss how installation could be done in ROD days (John estimates 40 are avilalbe). Bill and Scott DeBarger are now figuring what must be done this summer to make the schedule work (for example, installing the dump). Funding currently on hold. E160 target: Design work now pretty much done. Next step is to start detaling the parts (Mike starting on this). E161 Target. John found out NMR magnet at Stanford has too small a bore to be used to test dilution fridge. Don says the 8T maget at UVa may be useful if bore is big enough, but would require a new orientation (Hor. vrs vertical) John not sure of status of ordering the EIO tubes: hoefully it is going through thee system still. E160 Spectrometer. Berkely and Duke both looking at doing 3D calculations of LASS for E160. Berekely uses TOSCA, so to make it easier to do different wedge lengths and widths, Peter made drawing width wedge made of various pieces that can either be air or iron (this saves having to re-do the mesh). Duke would use Mermaid. Peter plans to sutdy the effect of vertical bending fields on the y hodoscope bin sizes needed (this only affects the large y values). Keith is thinking of building a box around the front hodoscope to protect from stray magnetic fields and allow closer placement to the end of LASS. E161 Simulations: Werner Boeglin has made some progress looking at open charm with two muons. Peter needs to make more files for him with less cuts and more information on the two muons. E160 simulations: Eugene Chudakov started to look at spectrometer with GEANT. Dyland Thein decided not to work on E160 any more. Steve and Peter suggest the new UMass student, Mioa Wang, could work on simulating E160 (for example the inelastic J/psi events and how the A-dep on inelastic can be separated from q.e) January Collaboration meeting. Most talks now on web. Yerevan Funding: Today Peter finally received documents from CDF: thinks our award is around 70K. The ISTC grant for 300K is still uncertain. SLAC, UMASS, UVA, and WM have agreed to jointly pay about 30K/year for Yerevan travel. Therefore the ISTC would hopefully just need to award the salary fund (210K). Deadline for the Pope internship is very soon (Feb. 28).
