Present: Don Crabb, Keith Griffioen, Bill Olson, Steve Rock Collaboration Meeting: January 11 looks like the best date for a collaboration meeting. The meeting is tentatively set to be at UVA unless Jlab will allow us to meet there. E160 targets: Steve Rock reports that the UMass X-ray device can measure relative but not absolute thicknesses. We need another way to measure absolute target thicknesses. Several techniques need to be looked into including ultrasound. E161 Target: A meeting at SLAC with representatives from Oxford is set for 16 November to nail down specifications for the magnet. Issues include: what forces from the spectrometer magnets the target can withstand, what is the non-uniformity of field at the target, and can we use an off-the-shelf target design. E161 Spectrometer: Tests with the LASS magnet indicate that it is OK. Bill thinks it was run up to 2700A and 1MW without problems. Photon Beam Line: Bill Olson reports that the conductors are in procurement and that 4 of the 8 spare coils have been located. It will take 40 days of 2 shifts per magnet set to do the winding. Steve Williams has backed starting this project in January so that it can be finished by August 2002 and installed during the long shutdown that will last from July/August to Oct/Nov 2002.
