Present: Peter Bosted, Keith Griffioen, Piotr Decowski, John Weisend, Bill Olson, Perry Anthony, Steve Rock, Don Crabb, Mathrew Breuer Announcements: 1) Technical notes on Photon Beam, E160 Target, and E160 Electronics were updated on June 15. Photon Beam Monitoring: Peter looked at muon pairs in E160 spect. more carefully: many problems. Now prefers idea of Ted and Ray to improve on Schwitter's monitoring of degraded electrons. Something like a quartz fiber detecter after first sweep magnet. Needs detailed design study. It would be about 20 cm high with about 80 fibers. Don Crabb suggested using a SWIK instead (some kind of wire ionization tubes, I gather). Will send references. E160 target: 15 cm. Thin targets to be measured at UVa. Peter needs to decide thickness of LiD. In afternoon found up to 5 cm is fine, as far as resolution concerned, but 4 cm is desired length to match the Be target. Don will ship a rod to John at SLAC. Keith will write section on heating. E161 target: waiting to hear about funding for magnet, eio tube, and pumps this coming Friday. Action items on report mostly done: need a few more by end of August. Nothing bad in review. Dewar from LLNL has arrived at SLAC. Seppo also sent stuff to UVa. E160 Engineering meeting took place last Fri. Looked at vacuum, electrical, other infrastructure. D3 would be disassembled, new insert for E160. Will continue with more meetings. E160 Spectrometer/Detector: Peter worked on detector sizes: wrote code to integrate into full MC simulation. Found a possible solution using 300 1/2" fingers in good resolution region, plus many new 1" wide fingers for full coverage. Thickness probably about 1 cm. Would have to be changed for E161, most likely. E161 Spectrometer/Detector: Steve will post TN on BH rejection soo
